Electrical & Electronic Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering offers professionally accredited degree programmes to undergraduate and postgraduate students. We offer multiple pathways to completing your training to Honours Degree Level 8 and beyond, regardless of whether you start on a Level 6 or Level 7 Programme; you can achieve an honours degree in four years.

The Department offers programmes across a diverse range of disciplines; Electrical / Automation / Electronic Engineering, Renewable Energy, Music Technology and Television Production.

Graduating students are highly sought after by industry due to the excellent quality of our programmes, and the strong links forged between our staff and industry. Typically our graduates enter professional roles in a wide variety of industries, both locally and internationally.

The programmes support learning by ensuring a strong practical ‘hands-on’ experience which enhances theoretical understanding. This approach gives our graduates comprehensive knowledge and the practical abilities required by industry.

The following programmes are accredited by Engineers Ireland:
• BEng in Electronic Engineering
• BEng in Industrial Automation & Robotic Systems
• BSc in Renewable & Electrical Energy Systems
• BSc (Hons) in Electronic Systems
• BSc (Hons) in Sustainable Electrical Power Systems

All of our programmes are compatible with the Bologna Framework (Framework for Qualifications of the European Higher Education Area), allowing free movement between European 3rd Level Institutions.
