National Learning Network - FOCUS ( Finding Opportunities Courage Understanding Strength)
FOCUS Aim
To enable participants to get to know him or herself better, to increase the individuals understanding of their own strengths and limitations and to have a greater understanding of how he or she acts in certain situations.
FOCUS Core Principles
- Community based and connected - Most of the training will be delivered in the trainees own community.
- A holistic model- National Learning Network will work closely with HSE and other community services.
- Advocacy- National Learning Network will work closely with the Irish Advocacy Network to empower trainees.
- Trainee involvement- Instructors work in partnership with trainees in setting objectives and reviewing their progress through the mechanism of an Individual Action Plan.

Participants of the FOCUS programme visited LIT where they met with student support personnel and current LIT students. The participants were given an opportunity to learn about the third-level environment and take a tour of the campus.
