Access Service

Skills @ Work Programme

LIT Access Service works in partnership with Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) through the Schools’ Business Partnership programme. This is an education inclusion programme that partners schools with business. LIT is partnered with Thomond Community College to deliver the Skills @ Work programme. The main aim of this programme is to positively impact on educational inclusion and address key issues in areas of educational disadvantage in Ireland. Each year the programme is delivered to fifth year participants from Thomond Community College, who attend five sessions from January to May. Throughout their visits to LIT, they engage in interactive and dynamic workshops that strive to increase their skills while providing very valuable information about the opportunities available after completion of second-level education.

The workshops and learning activities delivered are as follows:

  • Introduction to LIT and Communication Workshop
  • CV Skills Workshop
  • Interviews Skills Workshop
  • The Interview- Interview scenario where the students gain an opportunity to put their skills into practice
  • Team Building and Wrap – Up Session
