Student Assistance Fund 2011 - 2012:- General Information for Applicants.

The Student Assistance Fund

The Student Assistance Fund is funded by the Irish Government and part funded by the European Social Fund under the Human Capital Investment Operational Programme 2007-2013 and has been made available to LIT/TI students.

The SAF provides financial assistance for higher education students who are experiencing financial difficulties whilst participating in college. Students can apply for assistance to help them with either temporary or on-going financial difficulties. Financial Assistance cannot be issued to students in respect of tuition fees or registration fees.

Who can apply?

Applicants must be students registered with LIT/TI participating on a full time, third level course of not less than one-year duration leading to an under-graduate or post-graduate qualification.

Supporting Documentation Required:

Applicants should provide as much supporting documentation as possible with the form, such as copies of rent agreements, travel receipts, childcare receipts, etc. The following financial documentation relating to income must be submitted in support of your application. (If you are a mature student, i.e. 23 years of age on 1st January prior to admission, all financial details relate to your own personal circumstances, as opposed to that of a parent or guardian).

  • Copy of LIT Student ID Card
  • Copy of Applicants P60, P21, Payslip or P45
  • Copy of Personal Recent Full Bank Statements (Minimum of 3 months)
  • Copy of Personal Loan Agreements
  • Copy of Parents P60, P21, Payslip or P45
  • Copy of Spouse/Partner P60, P21, Payslip or P45
  • Copy of letter from your Grant Office stating the amount you will receive               

Application Procedure​

  • All applications are subject to limited available funding
  • The Institute may validate information provided on this application
  • Recommendations will be made to the Student Fund Advisory Committee
  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome.
  • Unsuccessful Applications may be appealed.
  • Receipts will be requested for funding approved and paid out.
  • All applications will be treated confidentially.

Incomplete Applications will be returned and cannot be considered by the Access Service
Please retain all expenditure receipts as these will be required for funding approved and paid out e.g. Travel/Rent/Food
