Limerick Adult Education College

The Vocational Training and Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) programme is open to people on social welfare who are over twenty-one years of age. Limerick Adult Education College offers a range of full-time courses, which can help students to update their skills or gain new skills. The programme runs Monday through Friday from September to June.

Some of the main advantages of the VTOS programme are:

  • Students keep current benefits and may receive other allowances (conditions apply)
  • Receive support towards childcare costs if required
  • Gain a certificate (Leaving and Junior Cert., FETAC Levels 3 - 5, ECDL etc.)
  • Have the opportunity to get the additional help and support  needed
  • Enjoy learning in friendly surroundings
  • Be taught by highly skilled and experienced teachers

On December 13th 2010, students from the VTOS programme were welcomed to a Coffee Morning in LIT. The VTOS students were met by LIT GIVE volunteers who shared their experiences of college life. An overview of the supports available in LIT was given to all VTOS students and a Q & A session was also facilitated. A guided tour of the Institute was provided before the students departed LIT.
