Department Of Business

The Department of Business is dedicated to providing you with the relevant knowledge, skills and competencies to deal with the real world challenges you will face in the workplace of your chosen discipline.

We offer programmes leading to qualifications in Accounting & Finance and Marketing & Management at Higher Certificate, Degree and Honours Degree levels. We also offer a four-year Honours Degree in Law & Taxation to meet a demand for integrated tax consultancy and legal expertise in the business world. All of these programmes provide you with the foundation to pursue further study at a professional level, including examination exemptions with a number of professional bodies. We are extremely proud of our students and their achievements, both academic and extracurricular. Some of our current students include male and female inter-county and provincial footballers, hurlers and camogie players; All-Ireland league and All-Ireland colleges rugby players; national league soccer players; dancing champions and, of course, Fitzgibbon Cup Hurling winners.

Many of our students have spent time working on a voluntary basis in local primary schools or with local charities. We also have a dedicated group of students who work with LIT’s Learning Support Unit to provide learning and tutorial support to other LIT students in the form of Peer Assisted Learning (PAL), whereby senior students tutor other students.

"The fact that the LIT Accounting & Finance programme provides the maximum exemptions for entrance into the professional exams played a major factor in choosing to study at LIT"

Samantha Keogh

"The small class sizes at LIT was terrific for getting to know the lecturers and helping students to make friends within the class"
