Faculty of Business & Humanities

Welcome to the Faculty Of Business & Humanities

The Faculty of Business & Humanities is dedicated to the provision of programmes that will furnish the student with the relevant knowledge, skills and competences to deal with the challenges that they will encounter in the workplace of their chosen discipline.

The Faculty has over 2200 students and is organised into four academic departments:

• Department of Business
• Department of Food and Tourism
• Department of Applied Social Sciences
• Department of Sport and Finance

The Faculty offers programmes leading to qualifications at Level 6 (Higher Certificate), at Level 7 (Degree) add-on, at Level 8 (Honours Degree) (add-on and ab-initio) and at Level 9 (Taught and by Research.

A number of programmes have recognition from professional bodies which offer accreditation on completion of the respective programmes.

All programmes in the Faculty of Business & Humanities provide a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills development facilitated through active learning approaches. This is achieved through the combination of formal lectures, tutorials, group projects, presentations, case studies, educational visits, problem-based learning, work placements, stimulation activities and the use of highly regarded speakers from the professions and industry.

The faculty is extremely proud of its students and their achievements, both academic and extracurricular. Some current students include male and female inter-county and provincial footballers, hurlers and camogie players; All-Ireland league and All-Ireland college’s rugby players. Many students have spent time working on a voluntary basis in local primary schools or with local charities.

The faculty is currently undertaking a programmatic review process. All programmes and module titles could be subject to change through the programmatic process.
