We are delighted to launch the first LIT Enterprise Competition worth €50,000!
 
This is open to ALL students who are finishing their Undergraduate Degree (level 8) or Postgraduate Degree (level 9) this year.
That’s all the LIT Schools –SEIT, LSAD, Business and Humanities, Built Environment and LIT Tipperary!
There are two prizes both worth €25k each and all you need to do is fill in an application form and a selection of students will then be chosen for an interview.
We want to hear your Business ideas and we want to hear about you – what makes you the type of person who can start-up a business?
 
Each of the 2 Prizes include:
 
·         €10,000 LIT Active Leadership in Enterprise Bursary for the Winner
·         A place on one of the LIT premier Enterprise Development Programmes which includes more than 20 days of professional training in our
o    Hartnett Enterprise Acceleration Centre
o    City Centre O’Connell Street Campus, National Franchise Centre
o    Tipperary Campus, Thurles Chamber Enterprise Centre (Just newly built!)
·         You will also have mentorship from highly experienced professionals with a background in helping create companies, running multinationals, C-Level people (CEO, COO, CFO etc)
·         You will also be able to avail of FREE Office Incubation space in one of our Enterprise Centres and you will have access to a phone, PC, broadband and printing facilities – all FREE for 1 year
·         Access to the LIT vast and valuable Network of help, support and investors.
 
We want to help LIT Students to build companies!

 IGNITE – THE GRADUATE BUSINESS INNOVATION CENTRE AT UCC

IGNITE is UCC’s Graduate Business Innovation Centre.  IGNITE’s programme provides graduates of any discipline with business start-up support.  Funding is provided and all services are FREE OF CHARGE.
IGNITE is:
  • a 9-month business start-up programme for recent graduates
  • open to graduates of any discipline from any higher education institution
  • located in UCC’s state-of-the-art Western Gateway Building
IGNITE provides start-up funding and FREE:
  • Access to further funding opportunities
  • Business incubation space in a top-class facility
  • Individual business mentoring from leading entrepreneurs
  • A comprehensive Start Your Own Business Programme
  • Guidance from UCC Entrepreneur ‘Coaches on Campus’
  • Regular networking events and access to key entrepreneur networks
  • Access to UCC’s academic, research and commercialisation expertise
  • Membership of Cork Chamber
  • Preferential membership rates at the Mardyke Sports Arena
  • A further 6 months free office space at the National Software Centre, Cork
Applicants are invited for the 2012 programme starting in October. Ten candidates will be selected to participate through a competitive process. Applications from groups of individuals are welcome.

Aspire Scholarship Programme 2012
UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School is delighted to announce the launch of the Aspire Scholarship Programme 2012.  These scholarships are great news for students who may have thought a Masters Degree was beyond reach.  We are offering up to 3 MBA and 9 MSc scholarships.  The successful applicants will receive 50% of their tuition fees for their chosen MSc or MBA programme.
UCD Smurfit School offers a wide range of programmes which are suitable for graduates from both business and non business backgrounds.  So if you have the drive and initiative to study at UCD Smurfit School but are being held back by your personal financial circumstances, one of these scholarships could be for you.

ICT Ireland Skillnet  

FREE MASTERS IN APPLIED SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY - PLUS A PERMANENT JOB!

The ICT Ireland Skillnet comprises a group of companies in the information and communications technologies sector who have come together specifically to provide advanced training activities for technical and engineering staff in Irish ICT companies.  The initiative has received funding from the Irish Government through Skillnets and the network member companies also make a significant financial contribution.  The network is coordinated by ICT Ireland, a federation within the Irish Business and Employers Confederation (IBEC).

NEW MASTERS PROGRAMME AT LIT

M.Sc. in Analytical Science with Research & Quality Management

The programme provides broad and forward-looking education, with the
knowledge and skills necessary to excel in Industry, business and research
associated roles. It is aimed primarily at learners from both an industrial and
academic background interested in acquiring a highly practical Level 9 (Higher
Education and Training Awards Council) qualification in Analytical Science with
Research and Quality Management. This proposed programme is structured
to maximise practice based learning and will involve extensive active student
participation.

NEW JOBS INITIATIVE ANNOUNCED
 
JobBridge is a new National Internship Scheme that will provide work experience placements for interns for a 6 or 9 month period.
The scheme will provide for up to 5,000 work experience placements in the private, public and voluntary sectors. This will be a time-limited scheme. Interns will receive an allowance of €50 per week on top of their existing social welfare entitlement. This will be payable for the period of the internship.
