    What is the programme about?
Energy management is the process of monitoring, controlling and conserving energy. This programme will produce graduates who are professionally qualified energy managers with the skills and competencies necessary to work effectively in the domestic and international energy industry as well as the broader industrial sector.

This programme is ideal for students wishing to build a career in the Energy industry. Both Buildings and Energy are needed for everything we do in today’s world. Climate change is happening and is caused by burning fossil fuels. While energy prices are low at the moment they won’t stay low in the long term. Therefore, we need new ways to produce energy and we need to make smarter use of the energy we produce. The EU and Ireland have set very ambitious targets for energy efficiency and clean energy production. The outcome of the COP21 Climate Change Agreement in Paris will lead to more aggressive energy targets. Meeting these targets will require huge investment in the area of Energy Management. This will create jobs for people with the right skills.

This programme covers all the technologies needed to reduce energy usage in buildings and to produce energy from clean renewable sources. This programme offers a mixture of theory and practical learning in all aspects of Sustainable Building, Energy Engineering and Energy Management.

Graduates will have the knowledge, insight and skills required to lead programmes of change and new design or retrofit solutions that require the deployment of energy efficiency measures or renewable energy technologies.

The skills learned on the programme can be used in a wide range of industries and good graduates are in high demand.

Who is the programme suited to?
Anyone interested in a career in the rapidly growing energy sector. This programme covers a broad range of technologies which can be applied in many different sectors and graduates will find work in a wide variety of industries. It is not necessary to have studied Construction or Engineering for the Leaving Cert, all the required construction, engineering science, and practical skills are covered within the programme.
