    What is the programme about?
Applied Chemistry is a two year Level 6 programme with the opportunity to progress to Level 7 and Level 8 honours degree level at LIT.

This programme gives the student fundamental training in chemistry, analytical science, computers, biosciences and statistics. These skills will allow the Level 6 graduate to work at introductory level in any analytical laboratory. Most students progress to Level 8 degree level where additional laboratory practical and analytical skills are developed.

Who is the programme suited to?
Any student interested in science is welcome to this programme. If you would like to eventually work in a scientific environment, conducting experiments, analysing results, problem solving and so forth, this programme is for you! If chemistry is not one of your chosen Leaving Certificate subjects or if you feel it is not your strength, do not worry. Chemistry is taught from introductory level in first year so that everyone is able to participate fully in this programme.

    Top 3 Reasons
    1. Graduates of this two year programme will have the skills and competence to work in the area of chemical/environmental analysis.

    2. The employment record of graduates successfully completing this programme together with the Degree in Science (Chemical Instrumentation/Analytical Methods) continues to be one of the best in Ireland.

    3. This is very much as one might expect from programmes preparing learners for employment in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry.
