    What is the programme about?
This programme is focused on developing a science graduate with a greater understanding of the environment and the associated pressures of industrial activities. The programme teaches students to sample specific aspects of the environment (water, soil and air), isolate and identify the presence of toxic chemicals and propose remediation solutions including a plan for continuous monitoring and management. The programme delivers a comprehensive understanding of environmental science while equipping graduates with the skills-set of a modern analytical scientist.

This programme is over 50% based in Field and Laboratory Analysis (FLA) throughout each of the four years of the programme. There is a six-month work placement in Year 3 of the programme to provide valuable work experience. In their final year of study, students complete an environmental research project in an area of their choice and is supervised by an academic or industrial expert in their chosen area.

All industries in Ireland are regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and in meeting and complying with these regulations Irish industry employ Environmental and Analytical Scientists- our graduates are these Scientists.

Who is the programme suited to?
This programme is ideal for students who like environmental science, biology, and practical laboratory work. The programme is designed for students who wish to work in the field coupled with laboratory analysis and environmental management skills. The six months work placement will provide students with the opportunity to work in a real-life environmental position with a company.
