This programme will employ a learner-centred instructional philosophy, namely Problem Based Learning (PBL). The aim of PBL is to prepare learners for the demands of real life marketing and management positions in a rapidly changing, knowledge-based economy. In a PBL environment, learners are encouraged to solve problems, which are set in a real world framework. This will involve:
- Group work
- Complex problem solving
- Engagement with ‘real world’ scenarios
- Discovering new knowledge
Deliverables for PBL problems will vary and may include: reports, presentations, web pages, news items, posters, manuals, research papers, models, etc. Problems and projects will mirror the types of situations learners are likely to encounter when they graduate and many will involve contact with outside companies.
The programme offers a number of different learning options, including a 1 year full time option and a 2 year part-time option and is aimed primarily at learners interested in acquiring a highly practical Level 9 qualification in Marketing and Management Strategy.
This proposed programme is structured to maximise practice based learning and will involve extensive active student participation.
