Commissioned by Galway County Council as a part of their Public Art Programme, funded from the Per Cent for Art Scheme.

This video portrait was shot in the attic of the James Joyce Centre, Dublin. Senator Norris is a leading campaigner for gay rights, a humanist, a conservationist and academic. He is a renowned Joycean scholar and known as an animated and brilliant raconteur.
In this artwork Senator Norris sits composed, surrounded by books and the remnants of Joyce related activities. This unique portrait allows time for the audience to experience the person behind Senator Norris’s public personality. The study of stillness and his silence reveals perhaps more about the community that he has advocated for.
