|Head in a Hole Woman - Self-Portrait Series. 2009 - 2012
This extensive series of photogarphic & video self-portraits are contructed as contextual interventions.
The Head in a Whole Woman series started in June 2008, when the artist found a deep hole in a rural road. She was drawn to the simple bizarreness of the action of placing your head, in a hole. When selecting a location the artist is interested in the context of the site. The resultant documentation depicting a discarded body, prone to deal with the reality of the location. The protected head of the body is engaged in a subterranean encounter. The paradoxical and absurdity of the action, offers the beholder of the subsquent portraits an opportunity to experience a diverse range of visual metaphors applicable to contemporary social/political issues and personal literal interpretations.
