LIT MUSIC FESTIVAL

LIT celebrates Music this February 6th and 7th with a jam-packed festival line-up hosted and run by the staff and students of the Music Technology Programmes. Designed to showcase the best of upcoming Musical Talent in Limerick - and supported by LIT students - this 2 day festival promises to be a ‘must attend event’ for anyone interested in the music business in the Midwest Region. Open to members of the public this 2 day free event will also feature the first public playing of Music Technology student albums, which are written, recorded and produced as part of thier course. Other student tracks and installations will be on display in the foyer of the Millenium theatre throughout the event.
LINE-UP of EVENTS
On Wednesday 6th, LIT Music Festival is proud to host the inaugural performance of “Headliners – supporting positive mental health” in association with SPIN South West. 12 acts from around the South West Region including rappers, singer songwriters and full bands will perform original material, focusing on mental health issues. LIT students are providing a backing band and technical support, with SPIN DJ’s Nessa Harney (TRL) and Ray Wingnut ( ALT) MC’ing on the night.
Thursday 7th will see a special Limerick Band Showcase – headlined by Choice Music Prize 2013 nominated local hero’s, Windings and will feature 8 bands from Limerick including Drea, Parliment Square, Hipneck Blues Collective, Dead Red Light, Sandi and Solas. This event was curated in association with a new local hub for creative practice that is “Dr. John's” in Limerick.
