#FOLLOWTHEWAVE
LIT’s 2017 Music Week is the 11th annual music festival that showcases the wonderful talents of students in LIT. It provides a spectacular platform for our creative technology courses to grow, giving students a great opportunity to expand their skills further. Throughout the week we will be hosting a variety of interactive workshops and exhibitions, music and art installations, talks from leading music and media industry professionals and special performances from our very own students as well as local talents.
Day events kick off on Monday with a series of workshops designed for 2nd level students. Following the success of last year’s workshops we have teamed up with Music Generation again this year for special live performances and their insight into local music happenings. Workshops also include studio recording, DJ and HipHop, radio (WiredFM), MIDI and live-scoring for gaming.
There is a new venture for Music Week on Tuesday as we bring sonic installations to LSAD, Clare St. in a unique collaboration between music, sculpture and lens-based media students. Wired FM will also be broadcasting live throughout the day. Wednesday and Thursday host a series of industry-led workshops from Paddy Mulcahy (Composer/Producer), John Bowker (Community Musician), Bart Kiely (Drummer/Percussionist) and Gary Maguire (Producer). All events are free* and open to the public.
The Millennium Theatre hosts a special screening of ‘Stop Making Sense’ (Talking Heads) on Tuesday evening. Local acts play from 6pm on Wednesday in the ever popular Millennium Sessions and Thursday evening will close the festival with a performance by the LIT House Band 5.1- one not to be missed! Check back here for a Live Stream of Wednesday and Thursday evening performances!
