Global Games Jam at LIT Thurles

Global Games Jam runs from January 29th to January 31st 2016. LIT Thurles has had the honour of taking part in this event for the last six years and is proud to be a part of it again.

The event brings students with various talents together (programmers, artists, writers, musicians), where they collaborate to try and create a game within 48 hours. It provides great insight into games development for first year students, allowing them to improve and learn new skills. The theme for the event has been carefully chosen by a team of industry professionals known as the “Theme Committee” and will be announced at the start of the jam. After this announcement, students will form teams and begin the game development process.

As a whole, Global Game Jam is a unique experience comprised of intense work, creativity and sleep deprivation. It is a tiring yet very satisfying experience for students where the technical and interpersonal skills you learn are invaluable. To everyone who will be participating in this year’s event in LIT Thurles, we want to wish you all good luck and thank you for making this year’s event a reality!
