Becoming Christine

You are invited to an inspiring talk by Christine Beynon about the journey she took to becoming a trans woman. This free talk will take place on Wed Oct 9th at 2pm at the Clonmel Campus of Limerick Institute of Technology.

Christine noticed that something was different from quite a young age and her ongoing and remarkable journey to full self-realisation and the bravery of this act, make her a true pioneer. As she says herself

“All I want is to be accepted for who I am, but when I step outside that front door, I can’t hide, not from anyone and not from myself. I walk out the door and I’m saying this is me” Christine Beynon, Interview 2012.

For 8 years, Christine has worked with LIT Lecturer and artist Amanda Dunsmore to capture her experience using selfies, sound and video. This has resulted in a very successful installation/exhibition, which not only reflects an individual finding themselves but is also reflective of the enormous socio-political changes that has taken place in Ireland over the past 60 years.

Limerick Institute of Technology is delighted to host this free talk with Christine and Amanda on Wednesday October 9th from 2pm until 3.30pm on our Clonmel Campus. It is organised as part of South Tipperary Positive Mental Health Festival. No booking is required. For further information, please contact Marie at mariea.walsh@lit.ie
