Department of Mechanical & Automobile Engineering Showcase 2016

The Department of Mechanical & Automobile Engineering Showcase took place in LIT on 21st of April 2016. Students across all 4 years and 5 different programmes participated in this great event, where they demonstrated an extensive range of project work completed during this academic year.

There was great excitement on the day with many displays including 3D Solidworks displays, engine assemblies, dynamometers, spray guns, and many posters displaying the huge effort made by the students throughout the year. Also on exhibition were the Modular Automation Demo Robot Cell, an Artificial Intelligence Based Intrusion Detection System, live 3D printing and the opportunity to try out some wave energy motion!

This year’s showcase had representatives from many local companies including Modular Automation, Johnson & Johnson Vistakon, Takumi Precision, Shannon Precision, Molex, Cook Medical, Analog Devices, Electricity Exchange, ARUP and more. Our industry representatives kindly and expertly judged the student projects and presented the winners with Departmental plaques.

The event gave the students the opportunity to mingle with each other and sample the other projects that students across the department are working on; it gave staff the chance to see all of the student’s projects presented together, and it also created a very useful link for the students with industry.

Come along next April to check it out for yourself!
