There was great excitement on the day with many displays including 3D Solidworks displays, CNC machined assemblies, a rotary engine assembly, a robot arm, automated gates, a wind tunnel, a line marker, an impact tester and many, many more. Also on display were a wide range of posters displaying the huge effort made by the students throughout the year in areas such as facilities and HVAC analysis, process improvements and road transport investigations. The Modular Automation Demo Robot Cell was in high demand, along with live 3D printing and the opportunity to try out some wave energy motion!

This year’s showcase had representatives from many local companies including Modular Automation, Zimmer Biomet, Design Pro, K-Mac (Facilities), Takumi Precision, Molex, ARUP, Shortts Stainless Steel and more. Our industry representatives kindly and expertly judged the student projects and presented the winners with Departmental plaques and medals.

This annual event gives the students an opportunity to mingle with each other and sample the other projects that students across the department are working on; it gives staff the chance to see all of the student’s projects presented together, and it also creates a very useful link for the students with industry for future graduate recruitment.
