FESTO Technology for Schools Initiative 2016

The LIT Mechanical Department welcomed a host of secondary school students from over 20 different schools on campus last week as part of the FESTO Technology for Schools initiative. The event which was held in association with LIT, the ETTA, and Limerick for Engineering took place last Thursday and Friday.

Students from Wexford, South Kerry and Galway were among the large number of attendees who spent the day learning about pneumatics, electro-pneumatics, mechanical setup and adjustment, CNC machining, Fault finding and trouble-shooting techniques. Organiser of the event Ciaran O’Loughlin says that the aim of the two day initiative is to “provide equipment to schools for educating engineering and technology students” as well as “promoting engineering and technology education in LIT”.
