DASS Warmly Invites you to:
Launch of ASCEND Research Group within Social Sciences ConneXions:
Keynote Speaker - John Lonergan
The Department of Applied Social Sciences invite our LIT colleagues and students to the Launch of ASCEND research group in 4A01 on 4th October at 1.30pm, followed by light refreshments.
We are delighted to have with us on the day Mr John Lonergan, who will be launching the new group with us and will be our keynote speaker at the event.
John Lonergan retired in 2010 following his role as Governor of Mountjoy Prison for over 22 years and Governor of the top security prison at Portlaoise for almost 4 years. Later that year his autobiography “The Governor” was published.
His philosophy is that change, personal or otherwise, cannot be enforced on people, believing that real and meaningful change only comes about through dialogue, consent and agreement.
John's philosophy is a real fit for our new research group ASCEND which will endeavour to carry out research in partnership with people who are supported in social care services, enabling voices to be heard and to promote meaningful change.
If you would like to join us on the day to hear from John Lonergan and to engage in conversations about service user led research, please go to the following link on Eventbrite to register for the event.
