LIT Library Host the Visit of Librarians from Astana, Kazakhstan

This week, Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) Library hosted the visit of librarians from S.Seifullin Kazakh Agro Technical University in Astana, Kazakhstan for library and information skills training as part of a major EU funding project.

 This visit marks another important milestone in the development of strong links between LIT Library and Universities and libraries in Kazakhstan.

LIT Library lead the major 1 million euros ERASMUS + funded project Developing Trans-regional information literacy for lifelong learning and the knowledge economy [DIREKT] which aims to develop Information Literacy and libraries in the Russian Federation, China and Kazakhstan. S.Seifullin Kazakh Agro Technical University are one of the Kazakh partners in the project with universities from other regions in Kazakhstan from cities such as Almaty in the south of the country and Kostanay located in North-western Kazakhstan also involved in the project.

Other partners in the project include Russian universities from Petrozavodsk, Kaliningrad, Saransk and Vladivostok and Chinese partners from Beijing, Nanjing and Xi’an. The other EU partners are Dresden University of Technology, Germany, The Pyramid Group from Ulm, Germany and Constantine the Philosopher University of Nitra, based in Nitra, Slovakia.
