LIT Strongly Represented at Smarter Travel Student Multimedia Awards 2017

Students from third level colleges were awarded in the Belltable Theatre recently, for creating fantastic videos, animations, audio pieces, radio ads and poster illustrations for the National Transport Authority’s annual Multimedia Awards. The entries produced by students, encourage other students to consider choosing ‘smarter’ modes of transport; particularly walking, cycling, public transport and car sharing.

LIT were well represented on the winning podium on the day taking home six out of a possible nine awards. There was a clean sweep in the Audio category with LIT Audio and Sound Technology students winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes. Students of Multimedia Programming and Design, Keith Walsh and Aaron Grimes came 1st and 2nd in the Poster Illustration category while their class mate Olivia McNeely was awarded 3rd place in the Video Animation category. One of the judges, Will Goodbody, Science & Technology Correspondent, RTÉ was “very impressed with the overall standard and quality of the entries. Collectively, they showed creative conceptual thinking, clever writing and skilled technical execution”.

“I'm delighted our Music Technology and Production students have had such success in the Smarter Travel Multimedia awards. We are always eager for opportunities to collaborate on industry-related projects with companies and institutions beyond LIT and this competition was a great fit with our second year syllabus.” Roisin Crowley, Limerick Institute of Technology.
