Major EU Award to Open Links Between LIT and Universities in Emerging Markets

A major EU award, given to LIT at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin, will see new teaching and study exchanges developed between the Limerick institution and universities in Malaysia, China, Brazil, Armenia, Georgia and the Russian Federation.

Donnacha McNamara, Executive Head of International Education at LIT said,

“The Erasmus+ International Credit Mobilities Award allows LIT to develop partnerships which will see students and researchers from a number of universities in major markets including Malaysia, China, Brazil, Armenia, Georgia and the Russian Federation coming to LIT while also creating new opportunities for LIT students to study overseas.

“A key component of LIT’s Internationalisation strategy is the development of research and teaching partnerships and the intake of scholars from these six markets. The awarding of Erasmus mobility support is a huge step in making this happen. Our award was the highest of any Institute of Technology in Ireland demonstrates the seriousness of our intention

“Internationalisation strategies aim to ensure the global competitiveness of Irish graduates, the participation of Irish third-level Institutes in the most relevant and up to date technologies and research and to make Ireland a location of choice for students in emerging markets who may wish to take their third-level education abroad.
