LIT Aims to Break Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Puppet Show
Second Year Event Management Students at LIT will find out next week if their attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Puppet Show was a success. The Puppet Show held at Limerick Milk Market on Sunday 26th February was attended by over 1500 adults and children and was the highlight of Limericks Family Fun Day.
Entertainment included fire breathing clowns, face painting and a children's disco. Children from all over the city and county arrived with their puppets to play their part in helping Limerick to break the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Puppet Show. The event was the brainchild of second year event management students from LIT in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.
Speaking about the event, Dr Catriona Murphy, Head of Department of Humanities at LIT said, “Last year our Event Management students just missed out on breaking the World Record for the World’s Largest Haka, hopefully this year they will have better luck, we are just awaiting confirmation on the result from the Guinness World Records but either way the event has been a triumph for our Event Management students and Lecturers here at LIT. The Puppet Show was a huge success and there was a wonderful atmosphere around the city on the day.”
James Sexton from The Kids Party Club wrote and performed the puppet show which included lots of audience participation. The event was a roaring success and filled the Milk Market to capacity. LIT will be notified next week by the Guinness World Records Association if they have broken the record.
