Limerick students at BT Young Scientists Exhibition

The 2012 BT Young Scientists Exhibition featured some 550 projects from all around the country, including a number of projects from Limerick-based students. LIT science lecturers once again took on an advisory/mentoring role for some of the local young scientists.

Among the prizewinners at the event were:

ANALOG DEVICES STUDENT AWARD

Technology — Junior: Sean Duffy, Killian Enright, Warren Gleeson, InVigil8: A personal portable security system, Desmond College - Limerick

There were also a number of commercial, academic and other science and engineering displays, including one from the Institutes of Technology that featured LIT Thurles students displaying their computer games design and dveleopment course.

Marie Walsh, LIT's SciFest co-ordinator, was at the SciFest stand which was part of major sponsors INTEL's display. SciFest will take place this year on May 2nd in the Aula maxima and students across the Mid-West are being encouraged to enter projects for this popular local science fair.
