Mechanical & Automobile Engineering

The Department of Mechanical & Automobile Engineering at LIT prepares students to walk from the classroom into the workplace. We offer a number of programmes from Mechanical Engineering to Road Transport Technology, Automobile Technology and Agricultural Mechanisation; many of which are recognised by professional bodies for membership following graduation. We give you the practical and hands-on skills with a significant amount of your time spent in the workshops and laboratories. There is a great opportunity to get your qualification the way you want, with 2 and 3 Year programmes that give you an opportunity to progress to an Honours Degree. Give us a ring if you’d like more information on the programmes offered by the Department of Mechanical & Automobile Engineering.

"The amount of time we spent in the workshop and learning the hands-on skills was a huge benefit, I felt prepared for everything I faced in my first job."

Niall O’Halloran

"I went to the Open Days to find out more about what LIT offered in mechanics; the workshops and garage we were shown during the tour had me sold. Now as a student it’s obvious the staff know what they're talking about and want to see you succeed in this industry!"

Dermot Flannagan
