LIMERICK’s PIGTOWN series is in full swing so it's time to get snapping! We know there are a lot of budding mobile photographers out there so LIT’s Department of Food & Tourism are running a competition to showcase the best that PIGTOWN has to offer. So make real use of your mobile phone and take some pics. Everyone is welcome.
The theme of the competition is simply ‘PIGTOWN’. Photos which capture the connection of the pig to Limerick are welcome. Enter now for the chance to win prizes up to the value of €1000.00 which includes a luxury hotel break, fabulous food prizes and €200 vouchers! Submitting your photos
Please email your mobile phone photo to taste@lit.ie along with the photo title/caption and details (including your contact phone number) so that we can credit you properly. Alternatively, post your PIGTOWN photo to Instagram using #mypigtown. Do tag limerickpigtownfood in your photo and follow @pigtownlimerick

Photo sizes and restrictions
- You can submit your PIGTOWN Photo on email or Instagram.
- Email your photo to taste@lit.ie. If posting on instagram use #mypigtown, tag limerickpigtownfood in your photo and follow @pigtownlimerick
- Photos MUST be taken by a mobile phone.
- Photos must feature some aspect linking the pig industry (culturally, economically or otherwise) with Limerick including people, places, things, animals, foods, spaces and events.
- Pictures submitted via email should send their photo as JPEG files (.jpg). Feel free to include a caption to explain your picture.
- Photos should be a maximum of 10MB in size
- LIT reserves the right to crop any photographs submitted in order to fit the overall design and format of the LIT website. We will make every effort to preserve the integrity of your work though!
- Images which have been heavily digitally edited will not be accepted. While some basic enhancements are allowed (brightness, contrast, and sharpening etc.), these should be kept to a minimum. The Judge is an expert on this so we’ll know!
- Closing date is October 16th 9am (strictly!)
Who can participate?
- The competition is open to everyone – young, old and in between!
- Under 18 entrants must have permission of their guardian before entering.
How are the winners chosen?
This competition will be judged by an independent professional media photographer. LIT reserves the right to have absolute discretion in terms of the decision to publish or not publish any submissions. The Judge's decision is final.
In keeping with the spirit of participation and engagement, we will try to ensure as many pictures as possible are made available for viewing by posting on various social media platforms.
And finally.... when and where?
Winners will be invited and announced on Wednesday night, Oct 18th at LIT’s very special Pig-LIT Dinner in TASTE
- All photographs submitted must be the work of the individual who emails them or posts them on Instagram.
- Photographers will be credited so be sure to include your name and contact details when submitting.
- Submissions may be reused on the LIT website / social media / printed materials more than once. Generally this will be for the purposes of promoting the competition itself but photos may be re-used in other material relating to LITs’ educational or community activities.
- No payment will be made or received for use of the pictures submitted.
