This section will guide you if you are applying for a place at Limerick Institute of Technology. Unless otherwise stated, all dates given in this section on applications refer to the year in which admission is sought.
Central Applications Office (C.A.O.)
All ‘undergraduate’ applications (that is,
places in Year 1 of programmes) should
be made to the Central Applications
Office, Tower House, Eglinton Street,
Galway (www.cao.ie). The CAO publish
a joint Handbook and Application Form
which may be obtained from them.
The Handbook will provide you with full
details of the application procedure.
Read it carefully and make sure that
you follow the directions given. Neither
the Institute nor CAO can be responsible
for any mistakes you make if you don’t
follow the correct procedures.
1. Those making non-standard applications.
2. Those applying for programmes that require some factor additional
to the Leaving Certificate to qualify for entry.
3. Restricted application programmes: Art and Design.
4. Acting & Performance Management.
Applicants will be notified about the nature and time of any assessments or other requirements during the period March/April. Claims that applicants were not informed about any assessment/ requirement, etc. will not be entertained unless the claim is received before May 20th.
The Institute will deem-to-be-late, any application, or change of mind, received after the specified closing date.

Applications received after 1st April will only be considered for places as vacancies arise.
EU Nationals aged 23 before 1st January.
Persons wishing to make a non-standard application must indicate the nature of their case on their application to the CAO. The Institute will not consider non-standard applications made to the CAO after February 1st. Although the Institute will try to assess all non-standard applications on the basis of information provided, it reserves the right to call such applicants to the Institute to assess their cases.
