Electronics Manufacturing

Degree in Manufacturing Technology - Evening Mode

Aims

To provide the learner with a broad knowledge of the design, development and fabrication of electronic products, printed circuit boards and systems. Having successfully completed this module, the learner will be able to:


1. List, identify and analyse the steps in circuit board design and manufacture.
2. Identify, distinguish and justify the use of electronic packages and components.
3. Define, explain and evaluate PCB assembly processes and perform circuit simulation and PCB layout using software packages.
4. Perform the fundamental calculations required for electronic components, circuit board design, the assembly process and process automation equipment.
5. Design, construct, assemble and test a PCB board.

Entry
Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to take this module, however these are not introductory level modules and some familiarity with the area as well as a level of independent study would be expected for exam success.

Content
The Electronic Manufacturing Process, Electronic Packaging And Components, PCB Engineering And Design, PCB Assembly Process, Automation:
Examinations
Each taught module has a programme of continuous assessment worth 50% and a final exam worth 50%. It is necessary to pass both elements to achieve an award in the module. Students not registered on the Degree receive an LIT Subject Certificate on successful completion of the module. Students registered for the Degree will receive ECTS credits for each group of modules successfully completed. Accumulation of 60 credits will lead to the Degree Award.

12 weeks, 1 night per week, from 7:00pm – 10:00pm
