Alan Boardman
Painting
“The freedom and flexibility to experiment
in my time on the programme, and to
develop a self-guided practice around that
experimentation has impacted greatly on
how I have produced work over the last three
years. As a result I have been able to exhibit in
a variety of contexts, both in solo and group
shows. I hope to build on this experimental
foundation and to exhibit internationally in
the coming year.”
The Painting programme provides you with a broad range of skills that can be developed and adapted in a variety of ways during future practice. The Programme provides the physical and intellectual environment where you can gain a greater personal awareness of visual language, so as to organise and translate that experience in the production of engaging works. Emphasis is placed on the procedural approaches to painting practice, familiarising yourself with basic tools, media and technique. Ultimately, you will be expected to investigate and challenge notions of 2-dimensional image making, what the image means and how the image is received by a wider audience.
