Design Week Limerick
Design Week Limerick is almost upon us – a regional offshoot of Design Week. Following last year's success in devoting a week in Limerick to celebrating design, LSAD has been working hard with partners in Ceramics Ireland, University of Limerick - the School of Architecture, Product Design and Interactive Design, the Limerick chapter of IxDA (the Interaction Design Association) and the Hunt Museum to create what has become an annual event. Read all about it at http://designweeklimerick.weebly.com/ Design Week Limerick proudly presents local exhibitions such as transFORM by Ceramics Ireland (opening in LSAD Gallery on Wednesday 2nd November), the ex-Electric Picnic Cruth Curach Pavilion which will be on display in UL for the week, the 'All About Pattern' knit display co-ordinated by Liz Spillane in LSAD and a steampunk show at the Hunt. The week will also feature talks by fashion designer Liz Quin, ceramicist Elaine Riordan, architects Andy Devane and Merrit Bucholz and boat-builder Jim Horgan, film screenings in the Belltable of ‘A Town Out of Time’ presented by LSAD’s MA SPACE and ‘Build Something Modern’ presented by UL, a Pecha Kucha night with the theme 'Design for Limerick' , and a Connected Limerick evening of presentations and discussions ... something for everyone to visit and take part in during Design Week.
