Hypoxia Hibernalis

softday.jpg

Softday's (Sean Taylor, Limerick School of Art and Design and Mikael Fernstrom, University of Limerick) Hypoxia Hibernalis was a prize winning work selected for the project Europe – a sound panorama, by the Goethe Institute of Belgrade, Deutschlandradio Kultur, Radio Belgrade, the European Broadcasting Union's (EBU) Ars Acustica Group, and the Institute for Music and Sound at the Centre for Art and Media Technology in Karlsruhe, Germany (ZKM), in October 2011.

Hypoxia Hibermalis was Softday's response to the call for contributions to create an acousmatic composition based on sound impressions of a geographical place in Europe.

Out of the total of 186 contributions submitted from 25 European countries, an international jury selected the ten best entries. The winner’s participated in a workshop at Kubus ZKM, in Karlsruhe in October 2011. This panorama was presented and recorded live at ZKM and other venues on 22nd October, and broadcast by participating radio stations across Europe. More details at: www.softday.ie
