The remains of light.
The remains of the day.
The remains of a powerful emotion of a place.
The effervescent spirit, that can be found in earth’s grace.
Then the remains of something that can’t be held, the hint of knowledge of the living day, slipping, as if imbued into earths matter, somehow graspable, somehow understandable.
‘remain[s]’, is the exhibition of new work by Pat Fitzpatrick as part of the MA by Research. The exhibition examines memory and nature: in this case why memory is important to us and the role nature plays as the source of memory and meaning. We all gather things from our journeys: postcards, pint glasses and bills, and in the artists’ case flowers, plants and earth.
‘remain[s]’ explores associations through memory and nature that add depth to understanding and experience.
‘remain[s]’, the title of the show, opens memory to many meanings and ambiguities. For the artist this is the place where memory and nature resides.
