Labour Market Activation Programmes - Part Time Places For Unemployed

 

As part of the Government Labour Market Activation Initiative LIT is offering the following one year part time programmes:

 

Higher Certificate In Science In Good Manufacturing Practice & Technology
(Level 6)


This programme is designed to provide learners with an understanding of Manufacturing Operations and Quality Assurance in the Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices and Food Processing sectors. It will provide graduates with the skills necessary to work in these highly regulated and technology driven sectors.

 

 
Master Of Science In Computing (Level 9)

 

The taught MSc in Computing consists of three independent streams. Learners will follow the stream of their choice to build on their primary degree and develop specialised, high demand skills and knowledge that are required for senior ICT roles. Streams are focused on key enterprise areas such as applications development, technology management/deployment and network security/digital forensics.

 

Learners will be able to retain their social welfare payments while on these courses and no fees will be payable but must be able to supply one of the following pieces of documentation to demonstrate eligibility:


• Confirmation from the local social welfare office of the duration of the applicant’s claim to a jobseekers payment. Please note that the duration of the claim must be at least 6 months prior to starting the course.

• A copy of form RP50 confirming that the applicant is entitled to statutory redundancy from their most recent employment.

 

 

In addition, LIT, as part of its own response, is reserving 30 free parttime places (in total) for qualifying applicants in rank order on the following programmes. (Applicants will, as above, need to provide confirmation of unemployment or redundancy.)

LC241 Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Accounting & Finance (Level 8)
LC951 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business Studies with Sports Management (Level 8)
LC641 Bachelor of Science in Environmental & Chemical Analysis (Level 7)
LC361 Higher Certificate in Business in Investigation Techniques and IT Security (Level 6)

 

Upon successful completion of the one year part time course learners will gain a minor award. These Minor awards are only a part of the full award and the learner would have to undertake further study to gain the full award.
